My Outlook For The Year

     This year is going to be a long and hectic year like any other, but honestly, I am ready for the task. I find myself wanting more than I had last year, so I am taking on the challenge. This year, my Sophomore year, is going to be busy.

I am back for my Sophomore year with a new position, Miss Sophomore. During the summer, I was involved in multiple things offered to me by the school. I participated in a program through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund for business development. At the time, I was a member of the Student Government Association and I got to know my fellow class board members better. I took the opportunity to figure out their interests and wants for the upcoming year. These conversations also led me to figure out what I wanted the next part of my legacy to be. I want to help my peers have a smooth transition into adulthood. I feel like worrying about paying for schooling is one of the biggest concerns, so I am definitely focusing on that area.

 Under my new position of Miss Sophomore, I feel I can still do what I planned to do, but more independently. I am taking a step back from certain things. I am taking time this year to understand my own limits. Time management is one of my hardships. It ends up with me overextending myself, and I cannot do that this year. I am TIRED from last year already, but my work on South Carolina State University's campus is not done. It is important to give your all into the things you do. I am choosing what I do this year very intentionally and carefully. I do plan on joining two more organizations, but I will not overextend myself. I find myself being overly active at times, and I am finally giving myself a rest.


    I look forward to everything I will accomplish this year. As for when it comes to Communications and my major, I have made a couple of decisions. I want to pursue a minor; as of right now, it is Political Science. My plans are changing when it comes to my career. I am looking into going to law school and what I can do to gear up for that this year. Moving forward, I want to gain some knowledge of videography and more things dealing with broadcasting. Photography might be in the works as well. I want to build my portfolio as much as possible. The photos included in this blog post are photos I've edited for my campaign, with inspiration from Janet Jackson's Control album. Hopefully, my work will be in more places this year.

I am looking to be more independent with my learning this year. The main goal is to be in more control of my own future. I am working on myself as a person, and I will be giving myself more grace than ever this year.
